Festival Season, and a new single announcement!

image

Its been a hectic few weeks for us, what with it being the summer and all. So far this summer, we’ve had the pleasure of playing the Lechlade Festival, Colourfest, the Amprocks festival, Willowfest and Shepstock. Plus we’ve still got Redfest to look forward to on the 25th July. Its been tiring, but the crowds have been fantastic and the atmosphere at every festival has been great. It probably helped that every single one was sunny as well :-)

We’ve also been working hard to finish our single, which we’re mastering this week. It features two brand new tracks: ‘So Rewind’, and ‘Keep You Anyway’. It will be coming out on Itunes, Spotify, Amazon etc etc etc at some point in the next few weeks!

Next show: March 22nd at The Garage, Islington

We’re very excited to be supporting The Hummingbirds next Saturday at The Garage, Islington. The Hummingbirds are a 6 piece modern skiffle/Folk outfit that hail from Liverpool, won the ‘Ones to Watch 2013’ award and have even been tipped for the Mercury music prize.

Its going to be a superb night of some of the best upcoming folk, acoustic and country music the UK has to offer so please do come along and support if you’re in London next Saturday.

We’ll be playing some new material from our upcoming album too so this really is one not to miss! Tickets are £7 advance and you can get them from the link below:

See you there!

Broken cajons and new songs

We’ve just finished a weekend of songwriting and I have to say that it has been one of the most productive we’ve had as a band for a long time. We now have the basis of three new songs which are all quite different and feel like a real progression for us as a band. We’ve been mentioning at our gigs for a little while now that we are keen to start work on a full length album. We’ve got to a point where most of the songs we play live have never actually been properly recorded, so it’s definitely time to get the microphones out and re-construct the home studio that we used for our EP. We’re going to be taking our time but will post lots of studio diaries and updates during the process.

Aside from all the productiveness, there was some destructiveness as whilst taking my cajon (you know the wooden box thing) on the train, it slipped and got a hole punctured in the front of it :-( . As with most things in life, gaffa tape was the solution, and it looks like it should last for at least a few more months longer. The way I see it, no one can say we’re not authentic when our instruments are literally held together with tape…

We are playing the Enterprise in Camden this Thursday. This venue was made famous by Ed Sheeran’s line “Times at the enterprise when some fella filmed me” in “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You”. Remember that song? Anyway, come along and maybe film us or something. More details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/523918694356848/

Last night at the 02 Academy2

We’d just like to say a big thanks to everyone who came along to the 02 Academy2 last night. It was one of the most enjoyable gigs we’ve ever played, and it was great to end the night by rocking out to Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. The photos can be viewed here. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Our new video: Somewhere In Between

So here it is then. The video we’ve been hinting at for a while. This is our first proper concept music video, and like everything we do,  it was produced entirely by the three of us… It took quite a while to get it edited, mainly because of those pesky green screens! We’re happy to finally have it finished and we hope you enjoy it. Comments very welcome!

Amazing Radio competition- update

Just a quick update on the Amazing Radio post below. I’m happy to say that…. we won! Thanks to everyone for voting for us. We were up against some pretty great bands so it was really great to get through :-)

Our music will now be popping up regularly on Amazing Radio. http://amazingradio.com/

Welcome to our practice studio….
We’ve been using this place since about January and I have to say I love it. Nice clear PA system, plenty of space, funky lights and a gigantic mirrored wall. It’s not just for being vain, it makes it way better for me as normally I have to spend gigs staring at the back of Roger and Charlie’s heads.
Anyway, having a room like this to come back to is getting quite important for us. Since we’re such a tiny band we used to have stripped back acoustic practices without any amplification: fun… great for songwriting…  but it misses out that ‘on-stage’ experience that you only get from going through a proper sized PA system. Sure it’s loud, and you get that horrible whining feedback if someone points a mic in the wrong direction, but its the only way you can really know what that new song is going to sound like before you hit an actual stage.
We’ve been writing a bit more recently, so hopefully once we’ve tried out some new stuff in this room, we’ll be ready to play it at one of our regular London circuit venues. In gig news, we’re all looking forward to our gig at the 02 Islington Academy2 on the 28th of September, so make sure you’ve got it pinned down in your diary. The aim is to pack the place full of NP fans and have a massive party. We’ll send out an update to everyone the moment the tickets go on sale. Can’t wait to try out some new stuff there too.
Oh an you might notice the sideways snare drum at the front of the room… Charlie wants to do something more interesting with his feet so I’ve given him a snare drum. It sounded pretty cool in practice so now we just need to work it into a song. After he’s done that I guess i’ll be fired…
